CRANFORD RECEIVES DOCTORATE, 2 NEW TEACHERS JOIN WINDSOR FAMILY FOR 2009-2010
Windsor Headmaster Dr. John C. Cranford received his Doctorate of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, FL on January 31, 2009. His area of concentration was educational leadership. Congratulations!
Ms. Patricia J. Moody will be our new second grade teacher. She is certified in the area of Early Childhood, Grades K-4th. Ms. Moody received a Masters degree in Early Childhood from Valdosta State University and over 25 years of teaching experience. She previously worked at Windsor Academy from 1990-2000 as the third grade teacher.
Ms. Terri Hammerle from the Westfield Schools will be our new high school math teacher. She has 9 years teaching experience in Middle Grades and High School science and math. Ms. Hammerle is certified to teach Middle Grades Math and Science and High School Math. At Windsor, she will teach Algebra I, Algebra II, Algebra III, and Pre-Calculus. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan College, a Masters degree and a Specialist degree from Georgia Southwestern University, and is certified to teach AP Calculus.

WINDSOR'S KENT GIBSON SIGNS WITH LAGRANGE COLLEGE
Senior Kent Gibson signed a letter of intent to play football at Lagrange College. Kent rushed for 1,980 yards and 21 touchdowns this year. He rushed for over 3,500 yards and scored 51 touchdowns in his career. Congrats!

C-TEAM KNIGHTS SPLIT GAMES WITH PIEDMONT
The Windsor C-Team Knights (11-5, 1-0) stopped Piedmont 15-0 but then lost 8-2 in a doubleheader at Windsor. The team beat Monroe Academy 11-5 in the first game but lost 5-1 in the second on Saturday. Jonathan (JB) Brooks hit two inside the park homeruns. Earlier, the team split with Piedmont by winning 14-1 and by losing 3-2. The C-Team Knights beat Valwood 7-3 in their first region game of the season. They lost their first games of the season as Tattnall Square slipped past the Knights 6-5 and 6-0. Windsor stopped Griffin Christian 7-1 and nearly shut out the Deerfield Windsor Knights of Albany by the score of 10-1. The team whipped the Flint River Wildcats by the scores of 15-2 and 6-2. The team also swept Monroe Academy in a DH and Griffin Christian by the score of 17-1.

BULLOCH SWEEPS KNIGHTS OUT OF STATE PLAYOFFS
The Bulloch Gators shocked Windsor (10-14, 4-4) by the scores of 15-0 and 11-0 to move into the GISA AA state quarterfinals. Windsor had a 2-0 win over Valwood and a 5-4 win over Sherwood Christian. They also beat the Warner Robins Patriots 12-3 but lost their third region game to Tiftarea 16-11. The Tiftarea game included a three run homer from Hunter Graham. The team shut out Flint River 10-0 earlier. The Knights lost their second region game of the season to Sherwood 5-3 with another homerun by Hunter Graham. Bo Giles went 3 for 3 as the Knights won their second GISA Region 3AA game over Valwood 2-1 behind the pitching of Seth Fuller. Hunter Graham and Dustin Weiche each went 2 for 4 as Knights won their first 3AA game of the season 8-3 over Southwest GA. Bo Giles was the winning pitcher. They lost to Brentwood 8-1 and were shut out by Tiftarea 10-0 in a GISA 3AA region game. Windsor slipped past Griffin Christian 7-6 with a bases loaded single by Senior Wes Hardy. Brentwood beat Windsor by the score of 7-1. Mount de Sales held off a late rally by Windsor to win 11-10 at Cavalier Fields. Earlier, Windsor was shut out by Mount De Sales 11-0 but beat the Warner Robins Patriots 8-4 in the home opener. The Knights defeated Griffin Christian by the score of 6-3. Windsor's bats came alive with a 15-4 win over Young Americans Christian School in Conyers. Seth Fuller hit a homerun. John Milledge Academy and Mount de Sales swept the Knights at the JMA baseball tourney by the scores of 11-1 and 9-0 respectively. Flint River stopped Windsor with a 3-1 win to open the season.

KATIE MORSE AND KENT GIBSON TAKE TOP ATHLETIC AWARDS AT WINDSOR!
Seniors Katie Morse and Kent Gibson captured the top Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards respectively at the 2009 Windsor Spring Sports Banquet held May 12th at Lake Tobesofkee. Junior Stephanie Roquemore and Senior Jake Worsham were honored with the Mark Moulton Athletic Award for good sportmanship and teamwork. The GISA 3AA Region Runner-up Diamond Knights received the following awards: MVP - Seth Fuller, Best Offense - Hunter Graham, Best Defense - Bo Giles, and Most Improved -Dustin Weiche. The B-Team Baseball MVP was Kyle Windham and the C-Team MVP was Caleb Shipp. The Top Golf Player Award went to Sam Robinson. High Point Track Award winners for region/state were Kent Gibson and Lauren Reynolds. Kyla Smith was also recognized as a State track representative for Windsor. JV Track Coach Award winners were Mikayla Chin and Kalen Thomas. Miranda Elliott took 1st place with High Jump and Tyler Stubbs took 3rd place in region. Justin Martin was 1st in hurdles. Ashley Weiche was 2nd place in region for discus throw.

WINDSOR BOYS TRACK TEAM TAKES 7TH IN STATE!
Seniors Kent Gibson and Jordan Peacock made strong showings in the 100 and 200 meter relays at the 2009 GISA Track Meet in Albany, GA last week. Chase Johnson placed in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The Windsor team of Kent Gibson, Jordan Peacock, Seth Scruggs, and Chris Wilkins took 1st place in the 4x100 relay. Seth Scruggs and Chris Wilkins placed in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Kent Gibson, Jordan Peacock, and Seth Scruggs and Chris Wilkins led the Windsor Boys Track team to a 3rd place finish in the 2009 GISA Region 3AA tourney at Tiftarea. 1st place Tiftarea was followed by Southwest GA. During the season, Windsor finished 3rd in a meet at Mount de Sales. FPD and Mount de Sales finished in 1st and 2nd place respectively at that meet. Kent won the 100M, 200M, and the Long Jump! The Lady Knights finished in 6th place at MDS.

WINDSOR'S BRENNAN COLLINS RECEIVES INNOVATION IN JOURNALISM AWARD!
Brennan Collins, a 6th grade student at Windsor, participated in the Channel 13 WMAZ Junior Journalist program. His story about the Children's Hospital of Central Georgia earned him the Children's Miracle Network "Innovation in Journalism" award. Brennan competed in a category that included professional journalists from across the nation! Congrats to Brennan! Proud parents are Susan and Brad Collins!

The B-Team Knights (4-3) beat the Warner Robins Patriots by the score of 11-3. The team lost 6-1 to Tiftarea at Windsor's Family Day. They also lost 11-1 at Tiftarea. Windsor whipped Mount De Sales 17-7 at Windsor. The team lost to Deerfield Windsor in Albany. They beat the Warner Robins Patriots 10-1 and Central Fellowship Lancers 12-4 to open their season!

PARENT-TEACHER ROUNDTABLE (PTR) 2008/2009 PENNY DRIVE WINNERS
The winning classes for Windsor's Parent-Teacher Roundtable (PTR) 2008/2009 Penny Drive/fundraiser are as follows: Elementary - Patrice Fitzgerald (1st Grade); Middle School - Teresa Sumner; High School - Kelly Lundy. The money will be used to purchase new desks. Windsor's Parent-Teacher Roundtable (PTR) is a committee of parents, grandparents, teachers that work to increase communication, recognize teachers and staff, and support academic programs. Membership dues are $15 per family. Grandparents can join for just $5.
Last year's PTR accomplishments included scholarships, playground equipment, teacher supplies, classroom makeovers (Art classroom), painting, and purchase of 10 computers. New PTR Committee Members and Officers are posted under the PTR tab. Join the Knights of the Roundtable!

FREDERICA SLIPS PAST LADY KNIGHTS 32-25 AND KNIGHTS 59-43, ANOTHER SEASON ENDS
The No. 2 Windsor Lady Knights (Region 3AA Record 3-5, 1-1 in Region Tourney, 0-1 State) lost in the 1st round of the State Tourney to Frederica 32-25 to close out the 2009 season. Last week, they lost in their 1st Region Championship since 1999. The game was against the No. 1 seeded Tiftarea Lady Panthers at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton. Katie Morse and Stephanie Roguemore were named to the All Region Team. The Windsor Knights (Region 3AA Record 4-4, 0-2 in Region Tourney, 0-1 State) lost to No. 2 Tiftarea 70-48 and lost to No.4 seeded Southwest GA in overtime at ABAC. Jordan Peacock, Bo Giles, and Jake Worsham were named to the All Region Team. The team closed out the season with a 59-43 loss to Frederica of St Simons Island. WINDSOR'S THOMAS PARTICIPATED IN THE PEOPLE TO PEOPLE WORLD LEADERSHIP FORUM
Gregory Thomas Jr., a 7th grade student at Windsor, participated as a member of the People to People World Leadership Forum in Washington, DC during the fall. Gregory was the only Georgia delegate attending his specific session. The program helps to develop leadership skills among America's youth while exploring defining moments in American history. The week-long experience included visits to Capitol Hill, Gettysburg, and Colonial Williamsburg. Proud parents are Greg and Susan Thomas!

C-TEAM KNIGHTS CAPTURE GISA JV REGION 3AA TITLE OVER TIFTAREA 45-33 - NEW PICTURES IN THE GALLERY!
The C-Team Knights (14-1) beat Tiftarea 45-33 for the Junior Varsity Region 3AA championship held on Saturday, Jan 31st at Sherwood in Albany. Congratulations to Coach Greg Bowden! JB Brooks led the attack with 16 points in the title game. Caleb Shipp added 11 points and Ryan Bowden had 9 points. Other scorers/team members: Bobby Shepherd 4, Kaleb Fuller 3, Levi Worsham 2, Brennan Collins, John Whitsel, Josh Dittman, Austin Long, Peyton Kell. Kaleb Fuller also was the Region 3AA Shootout Champion! The team shocked Sherwood earlier 52-42 to reach the final game. Bobby Shepherd had 16 points, Caleb Shipp 12, Kaleb Fuller 12, JB Brooks 10, and Ryan Bowden 2. The Knights captured their final regular season game with a 51-45 victory over St Peter Claver. Caleb Shipp led with 16 points followed by Kaleb Fuller with 13 and JB Brooks with 10. Other scorers: Ryan Bowden 4, Bobby Shepherd 4, John Whitsel 3, Josh Dittman 1. The team had a 54-23 victory over 3AA Tiftarea. Last week, the team took a 67-33 win over Crisp. Jonathan (JB) Brooks had a season high 25 points. They also beat Valwood 53-34 and Monroe 51-33 with Kaleb Fuller scoring 16 points, Caleb Shipp 15 points, and JB Brooks 11. They beat Piedmont and also beat Progressive Christian Academy by the score of 35-30 with John Whitsel as the leading scorer with 6 points. Other scorers: Peyton Kell 4, JB Brooks 4, Caleb Shipp 4, Kaleb Fuller 4, Ryan Bowden 4, Austin Long 3, Smith 2, Josh Dittman 2 and Bobby Shepherd 2. They beat Flint River by the score of 35-23 and whipped the CFCA Lancers by the score of 51-28. Kaleb Fuller and Ryan Bowden led with 13 points and 12 points, respectively. Jonathan Brooks added 9 points and Levi Worsham finished with 6 points. The C-Team Lady Knights (6-8) lost to Sherwood in the Region semifinals to close out the season. They beat St Peter Claver 27-17 and were led by Kayla Aber with 10 points, Chin with 7 and Miranda Elliott with 5. They lost to Tiftarea, Crisp, and Valwood 21-17. They beat Monroe 28-16, lost to Piedmont, beat Progressive, lost to Flint River, and slipped past the Lady Lancers in the final seconds by the score of 16-15. Both teams defeated Progressive Christian Academy during December. Flint River overcame a nine point deficit to slip past the C-Team Knights by the score of 33-30. Caleb Shipp led all scorers again with 16 points as the Knights came from 11 points behind in the 2nd half to beat Monroe 38-30 in Forsyth. Other scorers: Jonathan "JB" Brooks 7, Bobby Lee Shepherd 6, Kaleb Fuller 3, Jack Dixon 2, Ryan Bowden 2, Peyton Kell 2. The C-Team Lady Knights also lost to Flint River but beat Monroe 18-12. Kayla Aber and Sierra Roquemore led with 8 and 6 points respectively. Earlier, the Knights won their basketball season opener 58-32 over St Peter Claver. Caleb Shipp had 16 points. The B-Team Knights (3-11) lost to Covenant 69-66 and lost to Brentwood 58-53 in the final seconds. Bobby Shepherd and JB Brooks led all scorers with 21 and 17 points respectively against Covenant. Caleb Shipp added 10 points, Kaleb Fuller added 9 and Ryan Bowden 7. Last week, they lost to Crisp 47-39, lost to Monroe 40-35 and lost to Piedmont. They also lost to Tattnall but whipped the Piedmont Cougars at home by the score of 54-28. Jonathan Brooks and Bobby Shepherd scored 14 and 10 points, respectively. Other scorers: Kaleb Fuller 8, Ryan Bowden 8, Caleb Shipp 5, John Whitsel 4, Trey Morse 3, and Austin Long 2.
The B-Team Lady Knights (1-8) lost to Crisp 31-6 but won their first game of the season over Piedmont in Monticello. Earlier, the team suffered a loss to Tattnall and a 22-14 loss to Piedmont. Kalyn O'Quinn had 8 points and Haley Skipper added 4. They also lost to Robert Toombs 25-19 and to CFCA 33-9. The B-Team Knights also lost to Robert Toombs and to CFCA by the score of 49-38 despite 16 points from Jonathan Brooks. Other scoring: Trey Morse and Kaleb Fuller 6 points each, Ryan Bowden 3, Zack Bloodworth 2, Bobby Shepherd 2, John Whitsel 2, Kyle Windham 1. WINDSOR'S PFL TITAN ALL-STARS DEFENSE SHOCKS GRAY BOWL
Windsor's Peanut Football League (PFL) All-Stars (Grades 4-5) nearly reached the finals of the Gray Bowl sponsored by the Jones County Recreation Department. The 2008 PFL "Titans" shut out Walton County 13-0 and knocked out Wilkinson County 26-6. The team then took the Monroe County All-Stars to a 0-0 tie. However, Monroe won in OT by the score of 6-0 when Windsor was stopped at the 1/2 yard line. Congrats to our team members from Windsor, Central Fellowship, and Westside Baptist Academy. Thanks to our coaches Greg Bowden, Keith Lauritsen, Jeff Burnette, and Tony Crowder! Join us next year!

WINDSOR DOMINATES TELEGRAPH'S ALL MIDDLE GA FOOTBALL TEAM
The Independent Schools All-Middle Georgia team has been named by The Telegraph. Windsor Seniors Kent Kibson, Seth Fuller, and Jordan Peacock were selected 1st team. Honorable mentions uncluded Seniors Thomas Weekley and Jake Worsham.

ANOTHER GREAT FOOTBALL SEASON ENDS -FLINT RIVER 33 KNIGHTS 20
The Windsor Knights (8-4, 3-1) closed out another great year with a loss at Flint River 33-20 in the 2nd round of the GISA AA State playoffs. Thanks to our Seniors for a record-breaking season. The Knights remain in the current GISA AA State coaches poll at http://www.gisastats.com/sports/top_five.php?class_id_num=14&sport_id_num=1&assoc_id_num=1. Windsor had opened the GISA AA State playoffs with a first round home win against Edmund Burke Academy at Knight Field 53-14. Kent Gibson rushed for 229 yards for a season total of 1,851 yards and 24 touchdowns. Seth Fuller has added over 800 yards passing this season and Jordan Peacock has over 500 yards receiving for the year. Excellent tackling by linebackers Colby Gilpin, Hunter Graham and Tonkey Weekley sent Windsor into the second round. They took the South Bibb County Cup for the third straight year with a 53-8 win over GISA AAA Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers. The Knights were stopped 21-6 by the Tiftarea Panthers in Chula, GA to remove Windsor from the top spot for GISA 3AA. Macon Touchdown Club's Back of the Week Kent Gibson rushed for 128 yards. Seth Fuller ran for 83 yards.
The Knights stopped GISA Region 3AA Valwood 22-7. Gibson rushed for 274 yards. They also beat Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors by the score of 33-20. The Knights whipped the Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles from Albany on Homecoming Night by the score of 42-13 at Knight Field. Kent Gibson rushed for 224 yards. Katie Morse was crowned Homecoming Queen 2008 at halftime.

GISA REGION RECLASSIFICATION NEWS - WINDSOR MOVES TO REGION 3AA FOR 2008-2010
Windsor Academy moves from GISA Region 1AA to 3AA for the next two school years. Windsor will join Sherwood Christian in Albany, Southwest Georgia in Damascus, Tiftarea in Chula, and Valwood in Valdosta for GISA Region 3AA games.
