Windsor Academy

Celebrating 40 years

Greetings from the Headmaster

Windsor Academy was established as a private, non-profit school in 1970. August, 2010 will mark the 40th year Windsor Academy has been in operation. The administration, Board of Directors, faculty, and staff would like to extend to you a warm and friendly welcome to the Windsor Academy website. Here at Windsor we like to consider ourselves one happy family. The school is relatively small and very family oriented.

Our family at Windsor Academy is looking forward to an outstanding 2010-2011 school year academically and athletically. At Windsor Academy, academics are the number one priority and it is evident in its challenging and college preparatory curriculum. I am pleased to announce that we have added Kristen McCallum to the staff of our English Department. Ms. McCallum will be teaching 9th and 11th grade English and a middle school exploratory class. She is a 1998 Windsor Academy graduate. Ms. McCallum received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Valdosta State University and Masters of Teaching from Georgia College and State University.

Windsor students are given the opportunity to participate and be competitive in extracurricular activities. The school has an array of sports teams. Windsor Academy had a great year in sports in the 2009-2010 school year. The girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams had a great year and the girls’ junior varsity team was Region Runner-Up. The baseball team made the state play-offs again. Windsor’s boys’ 4 x 1 track team was State Champions. The Windsor wrestling team was Region Runner-Up and had four wrestlers win individual state championships in their weight class.

The 2010-2011 school year will mark the first year of Windsor Academy’s football team competing in Class A. Although last year’s overall win/loss record was disappointing, the players gained a vast amount of rewarding game experience. Head Football Coach Smallwood and his staff have been working eagerly with our players in preparation for the football season. Since May, our players have been working hard in the weight room.

We hope you will enjoy examining our new website and will decide to join our family. If you should have any questions or would like to set up a campus visit, please do not hesitate to call the school.

Sincerely,

John C. Cranford, EdD
Headmaster
